Top Gear Extreme Driving by Ken Block

If you ever wondered what the world’s top rally drivers do fun, wonder no more as all will be revealed in this follow up on a previous post that highlighted the mad driving skills of Ken Block in the DC Shoes Gymkana 2 Informercial which, by the way is how all infomercials should be made.

This high-octane joyride features Top Gear’s Captain Slow (James May) riding shotgun with Ken Block in his tricked out Subaru Impreza WRX STI as he rips up an airport that’s laid out as an obstacle course. The clip features great camewrawork and sublime driving prowess, but really gets going when MX Champion Ricky Carmichael joins in and races Ken through the airfield – it’s insane!



Nice work Ken! Oh, and to you James May, kudos on keeping down your lunch mate.

I am definitely going to be posting more of these as and when time allows, so stay tuned.

I’ve been toying with the idea of trading in my first car, a 2006 VW Polo, for something a little more ‘sporty’ so I went scouting for information about the new 2009 VW Golf VI lineup to learn more about one of the most popular cars ever built. I did not include the flagship VW GTi or BlueMotion models as those two bad boys will be featured in their own post.

I was not very stoked about the new design initially as it felt square and even unfamiliar when compared with the previous models, but I’m warming up to it, especially since I’ve learned more about the design philosophy, construction and performance.
